Q2: Am I eligible for the Atlas America Premium plan?

The Atlas America Premium plan is available for: US and Non-US citizens traveling outside their home country and country of citizenship.

Q3: Are pre-existing conditions covered by the Atlas America Premium plan?

Pre-existing conditions are not covered by Atlas America Premium plan. However, the Atlas America Premium plan covers up to the policy maximum for acute onset of pre-existing conditions in people up to age 79. It is up to the attending physician to determine if a particular medical situation is related to pre-existing condition or not, and also if it would be considered as an acute onset or not. Please check the Description of Coverage for more information about what is considered as acute onset of pre-existing condition.

Q4: How much does Atlas America Premium cost?

The cost of Atlas America Premium varies based on several qualifying criteria, such as the traveler's age, duration or length of trip, and selected coverage benefit limits. Typically, it can cost about $7 a day for a person 50 years of age, when selecting coverage area or destination of travel as the USA.

Q5: Which doctor or hospital can I go to?

You can go to any doctor or hospital of your choice. If you would like, you can choose to go in the PPO network for Atlas Plan, which is the United Healthcare Network.

Q6: How do I use this insurance?

Q7: Why are there state restrictions and will it impact me if I visit one of those states?

Each insurance company may have their own state-specific regulations on where plans can be sold. These state restrictions only impact residents from those specific states from purchasing these plans. However, if you are traveling to the United States, you will be covered in all 50 states during your active policy period.

Q8: Can I extend the plan, if I plan to stay longer?

Yes, if you buy the plan initially for more than 5 days, you can extend the policy. You would need to extend the plan at least two days before the policy expires. There would be an extra $5 extension charge. The policy can be extended for up to a maximum of 365 days.

Q9: Can I cancel the plan, if I plan to go back earlier?

Yes, you can cancel and get a refund for the Atlas Premium Plan, if you need to go back earlier than planned. The following rules apply:

• Written request is required for any cancellation.
• You can get a refund back, only if no claim has been filed.
• If you cancel before the start date, you would get the full refund back.
• If you cancel after the policy start date, you can get a pro-rated refund for the number of days left in the policy. Please note, there is a 5-day minimum purchase at the onset, and if the policy is cancelled after the effective date the policy must retain a minimum of 5-days.
• $25 cancellation fee applies.
• If there is any claim on file, you would not get any refund back.

Q10: Can I cancel only one person from the policy?

You cannot remove one person from the policy if other travelers are included. We recommend letting the current policy lapse with all travelers or canceling and repurchasing for the remaining travelers as per the policy terms.

Q11: What information do I need to buy the plan?

You will need names, coverage duration, date(s) of birth, home country address, and a valid credit card.

Q12: When will I receive my ID card?

You can print out your ID card from your confirmation e-mail and it will be used as proof of insurance.

Q13: What if I am traveling to multiple countries, will I be covered?

Coverage will be provided in all eligible countries visited with the exception of your Home Country and any restricted countries listed in the policy documentation. Coverage will only be offered within the policy start and end dates. Please note: If any part of your trip includes the United States, please select it as your destination country.

Q14: Does Atlas America Premium cover coronavirus?

Atlas America Premium can cover for COVID-19 and will be treated the same as any other eligible medical condition so long as the virus is contracted after the policy effective date and you have departed from the country of residence. Q15: When I buy this plan, do I need to make the full payment at once or do I have the option of paying it on a monthly basis?

Based on the desired coverage length you have selected, you have to make the full payment at once.

Since this plan is renewable you can renew it anytime you would like to before the policy expires. There is a renewable fee of $5 that associated with the renewal.

Q16: I'm traveling to multiple countries and inputted all the destinations during the quoting process. Why does my policy documents only list one destination country?

Only the primary destination in the application will be listed on the policy documents, but rest assured that all other eligible inputted countries will be covered during the active policy period.

Q17: Can I purchase the policy after I arrive at my destination?

Yes, you may purchase the policy even after the traveler has entered their destination country. Eligible benefits and coverage will begin after the policy’s effective start date.

Q18: When does my coverage start and end on my travel medical insurance plan?

Coverage on the travel medical insurance plan will begin on the date of departure (12:01am EST) and once the traveler has left their home country. Coverage areas are anywhere outside one's' home country as long as the policy is active. The coverage will end immediately once the traveler has entered back into their home country and at 11:59pm EST on the last date of coverage

Q19: Will my Atlas America Premium plan be extended /renewed automatically?

No, your Atlas America Premium plan won't be extended or renewed automatically. You have to sign into your account online and activate the extension or renewal yourself. Not all plans are extendable or renewable, so be sure to review your policy terms and conditions for eligibility.

Q20: Does the Atlas America Premium plan cover for the coronavirus vaccine/boosters?

The Atlas America Premium plan does not cover for the COVID-19 vaccine/booster, but will cover COVID-19 treatment and services the same as any other eligible condition if contracted after the policy effective date. Preventative care related to COVID-19, like vaccines/boosters is not covered under the policy. Please sign in to your account to view your plan specific documents for any limits or exclusions.

Q21: Does the Atlas America Premium plan cover for coronavirus testing?

Atlas America Premium will only cover for COVID-19 testing if the policyholder is experiencing symptoms and the test is ordered by an attending physician for diagnostic purposes. COVID-19 tests to meet travel requirements will not be covered.

Q22: Does the Atlas America Premium plan provide quarantine coverage?

The Atlas America Premium plan does offer a daily quarantine indemnity benefit. The quarantine indemnity benefit can provide a policyholder a fixed monetary amount to cover additional expenses while ordered to quarantine. Please review the policy documents for limits and exclusions.

Q23: I am on a student visa, am I eligible to purchase the plan as a short term health option during my participation in school or educational program?

If your school or educational program does not any have specific health insurance requirements to meet, this plan can offer short-term health insurance coverage while you are abroad. It is important to confirm with the school or educational program to ensure that any short-term health insurance plan will be accepted by them.

Q24: Is someone without a valid visa eligible for an Atlas plan?

Yes, Atlas plans provide coverage to non-U.S. citizens regardless of visa status, as long as the applicant is a non-U.S. resident. To be eligible, the applicant must provide a residence address outside of the U.S.

Q25: Who is the plan administrator for Atlas America Premium?

Q26: What is an acute onset of pre-existing condition?

An acute onset is a sudden unexpected outbreak or recurrence of a pre-existing condition which occurs spontaneously and without advance warning either in the form of physician recommendations or symptoms, is of short duration. It has to be an acute medical condition that requires immediate medical attention. More conditions and restrictions apply. Please check the Description of Coverage to understand what is covered under acute onset of pre-existing condition.

Q27: Why do corrections take 3-5 business days and can't be a quick fix?

The insurance provider recommends that you submit any correction requests in writing as your policy is a legally enforceable document. Following receipt of the correction, we send the request to the insurance provider; normally, the updates require 3-5 business days. They are processed in the order that they are received. We advise double-checking the information on the application before completing the purchase to prevent any errors and corrections.

Q28: Does Atlas America Premium cover for the Monkeypox vaccine?

The Atlas America Premium plan does not cover for the Monkeypox vaccine, but will cover Monkeypox treatment and services the same as any other eligible condition if the virus was contracted after the policy effective date. Q29: Does Atlas America Premium cover Monkeypox?

Q30: My credit card expired how do I receive my refund?

If your original payment method is invalid, please contact the insurance administrator directly at 800-605-2282 to update/edit your account details for a smooth refund process during cancellation.
