Typically, it can cost about $3 a day for a person 50 years of age, when selecting coverage area or destination of travel as the USA. |
| Q8: What does the Safe Travels Elite plan cover? Why is it so much cheaper than comprehensive plans? The Safe Travels Elite plan covers unexpected sicknesses or injuries that occur after the policy becomes effective. It does not cover preventive care, pre-existing conditions, dental care, or vision. The Safe Travels Elite plan is a limited coverage plan. It pays a pre-defined fixed dollar amount for every service or treatment. These amounts are provided in the schedule of benefits, both in the plan Brochure and the plan Description of Coverage documents. This plan is less expensive than comprehensive plans because the plan offers very limited or restricted benefits. Benefits may not be adequate in case of any major medical problem. |

Each insurance company may have their own state-specific regulations on where plans can be sold. These state restrictions only impact residents from those specific states from purchasing the Safe Travels Elite plan. However, if you are traveling to the United States, you will be covered in all 50 states during your active policy period. |
| Q12: Can I extend the Safe Travels Elite plan? Yes, you can extend Safe Travels Elite in increments of 5 days or more up to 364 days. You have to extend the policy before it expires. The policy can be extended online. |
| Q13: Can I cancel the Safe Travels Elite plan? Yes, you can cancel the Safe Travels Elite plan. A written request is required for cancellation. If you request a cancellation before the effective start date, you will receive a full refund back. After the start date of the policy, a refund is possible only if you have not visited doctors or other medical providers during the coverage period. You would get a prorated refund for the number of days left in the policy. A $35 cancellation fee would apply. No refund is available if there is a claim on file. |
| Q14: Can I cancel only one person from the Safe Travels Elite policy? You cannot remove one person from the Safe Travels Elite policy if other travelers are included. We recommend letting the current policy lapse with all travelers or canceling and repurchasing for the remaining travelers as per the policy terms. |

Once you purchase the Safe Travels Elite policy online, you will receive a printable ID card and policy documents in your email. You can print and cut the paper ID card for your record and use it in the event you go to the Doctor or hospital. |
| Q17: What if I am traveling to multiple countries, will Safe Travels Elite cover me? Coverage will be provided in all eligible countries visited with the exception of your Home Country and any restricted countries listed in the Safe Travels Elite policy documentation. Only the primary destination in the application will be listed on the Safe Travels Elite policy documents, but rest assured that all other eligible inputted countries will be covered during the active policy period. |
| Q21: When does my coverage start and end on my Safe Travels Elite plan? Coverage on the Safe Travels Elite plan will begin on the date of departure (12:00am EST) and once the traveler has left their home country. Coverage areas are anywhere outside one's home country as long as the policy is active. The coverage will end immediately once the traveler has entered back into their home country and at 11:59pm EST on the last date of coverage. |
| Q22: Will my Safe Travels Elite plan be extended /renewed automatically? No, your Safe Travels Elite plan won't be extended or renewed automatically. You have to sign into your account online and activate the extension or renewal yourself. Not all plans are extendable or renewable, so be sure to review your policy terms and conditions for eligibility. |
| Q23: The Safe Travels Elite plan says that the deductible is per incident or per injury or sickness. Does this mean I have to pay the deductible each time I make a visit to a Doctor or hospital? No, you do not have to pay a deductible each time you go to a doctor with Safe Travels Elite. Per-incident/per sickness or injury means that the deductible would apply separately to each different sickness or injury. But for each individual sickness or injury, the deductible would apply only one time. After you meet the deductible once for a sickness or injury, the plan would pay a fixed dollar amount for every service or treatment related to that. You would not be responsible for further deductibles for follow-up visits for the same sickness or injury. You would be responsible for a new deductible, only if a new unrelated sickness or injury starts. |
| Q24: Do I have to pay upfront, or are the doctors going to bill the insurance company directly for Safe Travels Elite? The billing process for Safe Travels Elite is at the discretion of the providers. Depending on the billing practice of the service provider, they may directly bill the insurance company or may ask you to pay upfront and get reimbursed from the insurance company. The claim process would be mandatory, whether you have to pay upfront, or the providers directly bill the insurance company. |
| Q25: Can I purchase the Safe Travels Elite policy after I arrive at my destination? Yes, you may purchase the Safe Travels Elite policy even after the traveler has entered their destination country. The policy must be purchased within 364 days of your arrival. Eligible benefits and coverage will begin after the policy's effective start date. |
| Q26: I want to purchase Safe Travels Elite for more than one visitor. Should I purchase two separate policies for them or have a combined policy? The benefits and costs do not differ if you buy individually or combined policies. If the visitors have different travel plans (might be coming together but leaving on different dates, etc.) it is recommended to buy separate Safe Travels Elite policies. Having separate policies gives you more flexibility in renewals and cancellations. |
| Q27: Why do Safe Travels Elite corrections take 3-5 business days and can't be a quick fix? The insurance provider recommends that you submit any correction requests in writing as your policy is a legally enforceable document. Following receipt of the correction, we send the request to the insurance provider; normally, the updates require 3-5 business days. They are processed in the order that they are received. We advise double-checking the information on the Safe Travels Elite application before completing the purchase to prevent any errors and corrections. |
| Q28: My credit card expired how do I receive my refund for Safe Travels Elite? If your original Safe Travels Elite payment method is no longer valid, your financial institution should provide a refund by issuing a check or returning the funds to you. In case the refund is returned to the insurance company, the processing might take up to 45 days, and we'll inform you accordingly. |
